DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GLI AND XLI(TOYOTA COROLLA 10^th GENERATION)

INTRODUCTION:

TOYOTA launched many variants in PAKISTAN. Some of these are GLI and XLI. We are talking about 10^th generation GLI and XLI.  People have confusion to understand the difference between them. In this article I will tell you about main differences between them.

EXTERIOR:

In 10^th generation of corolla, the shape is same in all variants that’s why GLI and XLI have same shapes.  This generation was launched in last months of 2008 in PAKISTAN and face-lifted in 2011. This generation does not contain fog-lamps in any variant. This generation remain continued up to 2014. Head-lights and tail-lights were also changed as the front head lights were kept smart in size as compare to previous one and tail lights were in chrome finish. But the wheel cups were same and face lifted in 2014 and after facelifting, corolla lover ranked 10/10 for its exterior.

WHEELS AND SURROUNDINGS:

As TOYOTA offers 5 studs-wheel cups. The rim size is of 15 inches and the tyre-profile is of 195-65-R15 in GLI and in XLI. Best suspension is offered which is good for broken roads and bumpy streets. However, carpet or noise reducer is not available in both variants. GLI has two-piece protection sheet while XLI has not.

ENGINE:

As TOYOTA offers same engines (i.e 1.3L and 1.6L) in both variants of 10^th generation (GLI and XLI) and both engines are based on VVTI technology (Valve Variable Timing Intelligence). 1.3L (1299cc) engine produces 84 hp and  121 Nm torque while 1.6L (1598cc) produces almost 124 hp 141Nm torque.

TRANSMISSION:

Normally, TOYOTA offers 5-speed manual transmission in both variants, however, automatic transmission is available in GLI only and TOYOTA does not offers automatic transmission in both variants of XLI (1.3 7 1.6).

INTERIOT:

As TOYOTA offers durable interior as well as exterior. The interior is in soft touching and offers in two tone (black and white). The seats come in fabric finish in both GLI and XLI.

CONCLUSION:

After all this discussion we conclude that the GLI is pretty better as compare to XLI as we can see the airbags + ABS + central locking system +rear arm rest etc. So, choosing corolla as family car GLI is the best option, although it is a little costly.
